2nd Annual 5K for C.A.D: Conquering Aortic Disease
September 14, 2014
A Thank You Message from Our Chairman & CEO
Our deepest gratitude to all of our generous donors, sponsors (The Tavern in the Square, Bell & Williams, Bohler Engineering, Business Services Unlimited, C.J. Doherty Inc., Comfort Home Care, Greater Boston Running Company, ICR, Innovative Realty, JP Kids and Company, K. Doherty Construction, Lynch Insurance Group, Moksha Spa & Wellness Center, North Point Outdoors, Pandolfo Company, Peabody Rotary Club, Salem Five Charitable Foundation, Samuel Adams, Smyth Graphics, The Bustonian, Tinti, Quinn, Grover & Frey, P.C., Titan Oil, and US Foods), vendors, volunteers, runners, walkers and the Town of Burlington for making our second annual 5K for C.A.D: Conquering Aortic Disease another great success. The exciting positive momentum from last year’s event was parlayed into this year’s race enabling us to raise $26,558 in net proceeds in Chuck’s memory, which again will be donated to the Bicuspid Aortic Foundation for critical BAVD research.
Heart disease is by far the #1 cause of death in the U.S. yet only receives a small fraction of overall fundraising dollars (Centers of Disease Control). With your help, we are working to raise awareness and funds to help bridge this gap. Millions of people are impacted by BAVD – an estimated one child every 12 seconds worldwide is born with the condition - many of whom go undiagnosed. Since our inception less than 2 years ago, we have raised over $60,000 in net proceeds, donated over $50,000 for critical BAVD research and awarded our first annual scholarship to a future cardiologist – all with a goal of improving the lives of the millions of people with this heart condition and aiding in the prevention of future tragedies. We have all of you to thank for that and are touched and humbled by your continued support.
We look forward to seeing you all and more at our 3rd Annual 5K for C.A.D. next year as we continue to Conquer Aortic Disease!
All our thanks and gratitude,
Many thanks to this year’s generous sponsors:
